Join the SJEL Team

The Seattle Journal of Environmental Law accepts applications for staff positions at the end of the Spring semester. The journal participates in a joint application process with Seattle University's other academic journals. Any first-year Seattle University law student is eligible to apply. Although SJEL encourages its members to have an interest in environmental law, the journal is open to any student with a strong work-ethic and a passion for legal writing.

Working on a student-run publication is a highly rewarding, challenging, and collaborative experience. SJEL trains its staff members to revise, edit, and Bluebook submissions, and also assists staff members in writing their own publishable articles.

Students who are transferring to Seattle University after their 1L year should contact the transfer student office for information on how to apply for student publications. However, prospective transfer students are still encouraged to contact current SJEL staff members for information about the journal.
